Why do we have a Privacy Statement?

In short - it’s a legal requirement… but we want to be transparent about how we use your personal information. The below Privacy Statement will apply whether you visit the website, sign up to our mailing list or contact us in any way.

This Privacy Statement outlines:

  • what personal data we collect;

  • how we use the data we collect from you;

  • whether we will disclose your details to anyone else;

  • how we ensure your privacy is maintained;

  • your choices and rights regarding the personal data you provide to us;

  • and the use of cookies on our website. 

What Personal Data do we collect?

  • Personally Identifiable Information (name, date of birth, gender*)

  • Email address (if you sign up for our mailing list) 

What other Data do we collect?

We will collect meta-data when you browse the site including:

  • Geographical location

  • What device you use (desktop/ laptop / model phone - including brand/ model name and software version)

  • Products or services you may have purchased or expressed interest within previously. 

How do we collect Data?

We collect data first hand when you sign up for our mailing list or by submitting information to us directly or through our adverts. Third party data is also collected and passed on to us through services such as Facebook Ads, Google Analytics and other 3rd party sites we partner with. 

Please note - our website is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect data relating to children.

How will you use my Personal Data?

We may use the personal information that you provide or that is obtained by us through third parties for a number of purposes including:

  • To contact and interact with you

  • To contact you about our products, services, offers which we think may be of interest to you (based on your marketing preferences which can be updated at any time)

  • To contact you in relation to and to administer any prize draws, competitions or other promotions that you have entered or subscribed to;

  • To invite you to take part in and manage customer surveys, questionnaires and other market research activities carried out by Ali McClure Education and Parenting and our marketing partners which may include: contacting you for your feedback on our products and services, to enable us to review, develop and improve the products and services we offer

  • To manage and improve our website and mobile apps and your experience using it via cookies (more on cookies below)

  • To tailor advertising via 3rd parties, based on the interests you have submitted (these preferences can be changed at anytime by contacting us)

To fulfil our contract with you:

If purchasing products or services from us, we may need to share your information with 3rd parties to fulfil our contractual obligation (including but not limited to: name, address, financial details).

We won't send you marketing messages if you tell us not to but we may still need to send you occasional service-related messages (eg. updates on an order or updates to a product or service you have purchased).

Please be aware that if you choose not to share your personal data with us, or refuse certain contact permissions, we may not be able to provide some services you’ve asked for. For example, if you withdraw your general consent to hear from us, we won’t be able to tell you about any new product offerings.

Explaining the Legal Bases we rely on to Process your Personal Data

The General Data Protection Regulations outline several lawful reasons why we may use your data including:

Contractual obligations: If you sign up for a service (free or paid) - we would need your information to deliver that service eg. Email address for a mailing list, or address to ship a physical product.

Legitimate interests: If you have previously received services from ourselves, we may use your history to market similar services from ourselves in the future - provided you haven’t withdrawn consent to receive further communication from us.

Consent: Where you have explicitly told us you want to hear from us eg. Signing up to our mailing list. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by unsubscribing from the mailing list or contacting us through our website.When collecting your personal data, we will make clear to you which data is necessary in connection with a particular service.

Who might you share my information with?

We will share your personal information with third parties where required by law, or where it is necessary to fulfil an agreement with yourself. For example, addresses may be shared with a shipping company who are subject to the same laws over protecting your data.

We will not sell or rent your information to third parties.

What about other third parties?

We may share personal data with other organisations in the following circumstances:

  • if required to by law, under any code of practice by which we are bound or we are asked to do so by a public or regulatory authority such as the Police;

  • for the administration of prize draws, competitions or promotions;

  • we will share your purchase and contact details when required to do so by a regulatory authority.

To help personalise and monitor your journey through our website we currently use third parties who will process your personal data as part of their contracts with us. These currently include:

  • MailChimp

  • Squarespace

  • Facebook (and it’s subsidiaries including but not limited to Instagram)

  • Google

  • Billetto.

We may also interact with you through social media sites.

International transfers of your personal information

We may transfer your personal information to our suppliers or service providers based outside of the UK and the European Economic Area (EEA) for processing for the purposes described in this Privacy Statement. These countries may not have similar data protection laws to the UK. If we do this, we have procedures in place to ensure that your personal information will continue to be subject to an adequate level of data protection, for example by means of a contract incorporating the model contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or the US Privacy Shield scheme. We will also ensure that other appropriate safeguards are in place to ensure your information continues to be treated in accordance with applicable law.

How long will you keep my data?

We will always retain your personal information in accordance with law and regulation and never retain your information for longer than is necessary.

At the end of that retention period, your data will either be deleted or anonymised, for example by aggregation with other data so that it can be used in a non-identifiable way for business planning or statistical analysis. Where we anonymise data, we may use such information without further notice to you.We will keep the personal data, including details of the product you purchase, which you provide to us when you place an order with us for six years so we can comply with our legal and contractual obligations, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Cookies are used by us to analyse how you use the site so we can improve it.Our cookies do not contain confidential information such as your home address, telephone number or credit card details. The best way we try to keep personal information safe is by collecting as little as we can to function. We also keep our website up to date against and use reputable web hosts that do the same.

How can I get my change my details or remove them from your mailing list?

If you have registered to receive information from us, you can remove your contact details from our list by selecting the “unsubscribe” option or by emailing us on the above address. We’ll action your request as soon as we reasonably can. We also provide the option on email communication to remove yourself from further messages.
